Have you noticed after sitting for a while, that when you stand up your legs feel stiff?
While seated your legs at the hip are bent at 90 degrees causing the muscles on the front of your legs to be ‘shorter’ than when you try and stand. One stretch which can help is the quad stretch.
- With one hand hold onto a stable object or wall.
- Lift the leg on the opposite side of your body so that you can grab your shin with your free hand.
- Allow this hand to pull the foot towards the back of your bottom, so your knee bends.
- Make sure both knees are next to each other as you stand as tall as you can.(chest up)
- If this isn’t a strong enough stretch, push your hips forwards to increase the intensity of the stretch.
- After 30 seconds slowly release the stretch and repeat on the other side.
